Microneedling, or Collagen Induction Therapy, is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that creates micro-channels to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production, growth factors, and elastin, minimizing the signs of aging and improving skin texture. Microneedling improves the appearance of acne scars, stretch marks, sun damage, cellulite, fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation and can be performed on all skin types with little to no downtime.

Treatment can be performed on the face, neck, and décolleté and is suitable to be used in place of other procedures that cannot treat delicate areas, such as around the eyes. In addition, microneedling will strengthen the skin in the treated areas, leading to long-term skin rejuvenation.

Microneedling is perfect for achieving skin resurfacing and triggering new collagen. Dermal needling treatment does the same thing as ablative treatments, including IPL, chemical peels, Fraxel, and laser resurfacing treatment, but it is a less expensive option. In addition, microneedling produces good results for those with acne scarring, uneven skin tone, or hyperpigmentation.

Microneedling is performed mostly on the face, but other body areas can also be treated, including the back, hands, neck, and chest.

Microneedling uses a special device with tiny needles to prick the skin to create micro-injuries that are not visible to the naked eye. This process invokes the body’s natural healing response and collagen production. A roller-type device or a special skin pen can be used.

A special device containing tiny needles penetrates the top layer of skin, which triggers the exfoliation process and stimulates the production of new collagen. The new collagen repairs the skin, while the excess collagen strengthens the skin.

For melasma and scarring, treatments are recommended every 4-6 weeks for best results. For an age-management, treatment is recommended every 12 weeks.

From start to finish, your appointment will take around two hours. Generally the longest wait time is for your skin to be cleansed and the topical anesthetic cream to take effect before we can begin your procedure.

Depending on the treatment, the length of the microneedles varies. Microneedling can also be delivered as a series of treatments one to three months apart. The treatment has minimal downtime, and you can return to your normal activities after microneedling treatments. Visible results are seen in about six to eight weeks after the treatment. These results improve with time. The number of treatments you need depends on your skin type and skin condition. Most patients get four to eight treatments six weeks apart. After treatment, it is normal to have pinkish skin that resembles mild sunburn. Swelling and color will disappear over the next few days.

There is little risk or complications with microneedling. Your skin may feel tight and dry a few days after the treatment, but this is normal and a part of the skin healing experience. You may have minor bleeding after microneedling, but this is also normal. It is important to note that these temporary side effects usually last only a few days. During this time, do not pick or scratch at your skin or you could cause irritation and infection.

Microneedling can be beneficial for the face, neck, and décolleté. In addition, it can be helpful for anyone looking for a non-invasive procedure to improve acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and texture issues with little to no downtime and very little pain or side effects.

We use a topical anesthetic cream before the procedure to make the patient more comfortable. You can experience mild redness and swelling for 24-48 hours post-treatment. Allow a minimum of 2 weeks ahead of any events/vacations.

You will see positive changes in your skin within 1-2 weeks following treatment. We recommend a series of 3-6 treatments in 4-week intervals for optimal results.
